Brittany’s practice focuses on labor and employment litigation and counseling, civil rights litigation, government investigations, and appeals.  Brittany has experience with the Virginia Human Rights Act, Title VII, Title IX, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Pregnant Workers’ Fairness Act, and Virginia Fair Housing Law. Brittany uses her federal and state government experience to provide context and strategy in government investigations. She also has both state and federal litigation experience.  Brittany serves as both trial counsel and Virginia co-counsel in cases in federal and state court, in addition to arbitration and administrative proceedings.

Background

Prior to joining Kaleo, Brittany was an Assistant Attorney General in the Virginia Office of the Attorney General, Office of Civil Rights, where she focused on investigation and litigation of discrimination complaints in Virginia. She has in-depth knowledge of Virginia and federal civil rights laws. Her work involved investigations and litigation of discrimination cases across the Commonwealth under both state and federal law. She has first and second chair experience in state court and has experience leading dozens of employment discrimination investigations.

Before her time at the Attorney General’s Office, Brittany worked in litigation and compliance at Troutman Pepper Locke in Richmond, an AmLaw 50 firm. their Consumer Financial Services group handling compliance matters and Fair Credit Reporting Act cases.

Brittany also previously worked on the U.S Senate Judiciary Committee as Counsel, handling over 100 hearings during her time in the position, where she covered judicial and executive nominations, oversight of executive agencies, and substantive legislation in diverse areas of law such as intellectual property and immigration.

Brittany graduated cum laude from William & Mary Law School, where she was a member of the Law Review and Moot Court Team. She clerked for Judge Kurt D. Engelhardt on the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.  She is a member of the Virginia State Bar and is an adjunct professor at William & Mary Law School.

Brittany lives in Midlothian with her husband and three children. She loves to read, travel, spend time outside with her kids, and is an aspiring gardener.
