Prior to joining Kaleo in July 2024, Cara Cotter served as Senior Corporate Counsel at Resurgent Capital Services, LP, where she focused on regulatory compliance, privacy and cybersecurity, and commercial contracts. Prior to joining Resurgent, Cara was Assistant General Counsel at PRA Group (NASDAQ: PRAA), a global leader in acquiring nonperforming loans. During her more than seven years at PRA, Cara specialized in regulatory compliance issues impacting the financial services industry, privacy and cybersecurity, and review and analysis of portfolio acquisitions and purchase and sale agreements. Previously, Cara worked as an associate at Wilson & McIntyre, PLLC, where she supported commercial litigation and business bankruptcy. Upon graduating from law school, Cara served for two years as a law clerk to the Honorable S. Bernard Goodywn of the Virginia Supreme Court.

Cara is certified by the International Association of Privacy Professionals as an Information Privacy Professional (CIPP-US) and an Information Privacy Manager (CIPM). Cara graduated magna cum laude and Order of the Coif fro Georgetown University Law Center, where she also received the Dean’s Certificate for Exemplary Service. Cara graduated summa cum laude from the College of William and Mary.
As a Hampton Roads native, Cara is extensively involved in various community organizations. Currently, Cara is a board member for St. Mary’s Home for Disabled Children and a past chair of the Tidewater Youth Services Foundation. Cara has been involved with the Hampton Roads Community Foundation, United Way of South Hampton Roads, and Portsmouth Service League. Cara is also an avid traveler and has visited 44 countries (and counting!).
